Emirates unveils world-first Premium Economy privacy seat
Premium Economy just got a rather premium upgrade.
Emirates has unveiled what it says is the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat, complete with a full-height adjustable privacy screen between every seat.
Debuting aboard newly received Airbus A350 aircraft, the design gives passengers more control over both their seating position and personal space.
The new Premium Economy cabin features just 28 seats in a spacious 2-3-2 configuration. Seats measure a comfortable 20 inches wide, with pitch of up to 39 inches aboard the A350.
Privacy at the touch of a button
Perhaps the headline feature is the electric privacy divider.
Passengers can raise or lower the full-height divider using their seat controls, then lock it into position. That means a little more separation when you’re sleeping, working, dining or simply settling in for some uninterrupted screen time.
It’s also Emirates’ first fully electrically powered Premium Economy seat. An integrated Passenger Control Unit allows travellers to adjust their seating position at the touch of a button, including dedicated lounge and meal modes.
The upgrades continue with Emirates’ U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats. Finished in leather, its adjustable wings are designed to provide additional head and neck support. A manually deployable leather footrest adds another layer of comfort for longer journeys.
Premium Economy keeps moving up
Emirates launched its Premium Economy experience in 2022 and has continued to expand the cabin across its fleet.
The latest design borrows inspiration from the airline’s Business Class experience, pairing extra space and privacy with Emirates’ dining and inflight entertainment.
For travellers who want more room and refinement without moving all the way to Business Class, the gap between the two cabins just became a little smaller.
