Bangkok’s historic Custom House begins a luxurious new chapter

One of Bangkok’s most storied riverside landmarks is getting ready to welcome travellers once again, this time with a distinctly luxurious twist.

Opening in late 2026, The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok will transform the city’s historic former Custom House complex into an intimate luxury hotel on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.

Established in 1888, the Custom House once served as Siam’s gateway to the world, welcoming merchants, diplomats and travellers arriving in the city. Following an extensive heritage restoration, the protected national monument will begin its next chapter with its original architectural character carefully preserved.

The new Langham will feature just 60 guestrooms and 15 suites, combining three meticulously restored heritage buildings with a contemporary accommodation wing. Guests can expect river and city views, private pool terrace rooms and specialty suites inspired by the history of the Custom House.

Foodies have plenty to look forward to, too. The hotel will welcome T’ang Court, bringing the celebrated three-MICHELIN-starred Cantonese dining experience from The Langham, Hong Kong to Bangkok. There’ll also be all-day dining, a riverfront bar, poolside dining and spaces for private celebrations.

For a little downtime between Bangkok adventures, guests can retreat to Chuan Spa, an outdoor swimming pool with six private cabanas and a fitness centre overlooking this fascinating corner of the city.

Located in historic Bang Rak, the hotel will put guests within easy reach of Bangkok’s Creative District, Talad Noi, Chinatown and some of the city’s best riverside attractions.
