Qantas and Jetstar Set for Take-Off at Western Sydney’s New Airport
Recently, members of the ATPI Corporate, Cruise & Travel and Events teams had the opportunity to tour Western Sydney International Airport ahead of its opening, and we’re pleased to report we were thoroughly impressed. From the modern terminal design to the seamless passenger experience, it’s shaping up to be one of Australia’s most exciting aviation developments. So, we’re especially excited by the news that Qantas and Jetstar have now confirmed their first services from Sydney’s newest airport.
Western Sydney International Airport will welcome its first commercial passenger flights in October 2026, with Jetstar and Qantas set to connect travellers to some of Australia’s favourite destinations.
Jetstar will make aviation history by operating the airport’s inaugural commercial passenger service on 25 October 2026, with a flight from Western Sydney to the Gold Coast. The airline will also offer services to Melbourne and Brisbane, providing travellers in one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions with more convenient access to popular domestic destinations.
Qantas will follow in March 2027, launching flights to Melbourne and Brisbane aboard its QantasLink Embraer E190 aircraft.
The announcement marks a major milestone for Australian aviation and gives travellers a new alternative to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. Western Sydney International will operate as a 24-hour airport, creating greater flexibility for both passengers and freight operations.
To celebrate the launch, Jetstar is offering one-way fares from just $59 to the Gold Coast, while Qantas launch fares start from $99 in Economy and $299 in Business Class to Melbourne and Brisbane.
Beyond passenger travel, the new airport is expected to become a significant freight hub, helping support growing demand for e-commerce and faster deliveries across Australia.
With modern facilities, easier access for Western Sydney residents and new low-fare travel opportunities, Western Sydney International is set to reshape the future of air travel in New South Wales. And after seeing it firsthand, we can’t wait to make our first WSI booking.
