Philippine Airlines set to join oneworld Alliance

Philippine Airlines is spreading its wings even further, with the Philippines’ flag carrier officially invited to join the oneworld Alliance.

Announced in June 2026, the move will see Philippine Airlines become oneworld’s 16th member airline and only its second full member based in Southeast Asia. The airline has signed a Memorandum of Understanding as it works towards joining the alliance.

For travellers, it’s an exciting development. Philippine Airlines will add 31 unique destinations to oneworld’s network, strengthening connections throughout the Philippines and across the wider Asia Pacific region. The alliance already connects travellers to nearly 1,000 destinations around the globe.

The move also promises some welcome perks for frequent flyers. Once Philippine Airlines formally joins oneworld, Mabuhay Miles members will be able to earn and redeem miles across member airlines. Eligible top-tier travellers will also gain oneworld Priority benefits and access to more than 700 premium airport lounges worldwide.

Philippine Airlines currently operates nonstop services from Manila and Cebu to destinations across the Philippines as well as Asia, North America, Australia and the Middle East. Its addition to oneworld will complement a network that includes familiar names such as Qantas, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines and Malaysia Airlines.

More destinations, more connections and more frequent flyer benefits? We like the sound of that.
