Dubai Introduces Contactless Hotel Check-In
Dubai is rolling out a new digital hotel check-in initiative designed to make arrivals faster and more seamless for travellers.
Announced in December 2025, the scheme allows hotels and holiday homes across the city to offer one-time, contactless check-in using biometric verification. Guests can complete their identity checks before arrival, removing the need for traditional front-desk procedures when they reach their accommodation.
Luxury property Address Downtown is among the first hotels to adopt the new system. Guests staying at the hotel can now complete pre-arrival verification from anywhere in the world and proceed directly to their room upon arrival.
The technology will be progressively introduced across more hotels and holiday homes, with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism making the system available to accommodation providers throughout the emirate. The move is expected to significantly reduce check-in times and improve the overall arrival experience for visitors.
How it works
- Upload Documents: Guests must upload essential ID from their phones via the app and submit biometric data (facial recognition).
- Arrival: When guests arrive, they can go directly to their rooms at participating hotels without stopping at the check-in desk.
- Secure Storage: The uploaded data is kept safe and stays valid until the guest’s ID expires.
- Future Stays: For future visits, guests only need a quick check, like facial recognition, and do not have to upload documents again unless their ID has expired.
